  • Plate of dark figs.

Some dark figs from tonight. Top left, 3 Genovese Nero. Top right, 3 Florea. Bottom left, handful of Valle Negra. Bottom right, 3 Black Zadar. Bottom middle, 1 Kathleen Black. 3 o'clock, 1 Hardy Chicago. Dead center, 1 Ischia Black UCD.
Genovese Nero wins as usual. Black Zadar can't compete with this crowd. All others were very good.

Did they all start ripening at the same time? Will you keep us up to date on how long their season lasts?

Some are coming to the end. GN is just getting started. I've picked all of these varieties for the last few weeks and some even longer.
