Col. Littmans Black Cross 2015 Main

This is a second year tree in a ten gallon pot.

This tree is courtesy of "strudeldog" and the first fig from this tree that
I have tasted. Several others were spoiled or fell from the tree for what
ever reason. The taste and texture of this fig was awesome. It was
perfectly sweet for me and a creamy raspberry flavor. The skin was slightly
chewy and it had its on sweet flavor. It is a first year tree and the first fig
and we gave it a 9.5 on a 1-10. I would expect it to get even better over
time. It is already in my top five this year.

Most people dont want any disease or disorder that they may become afflicted with.

I think I'm afflicted, diseased and disordered so I guess I'm normal when it comes to figs.

Great to hear Mike I have 3-4 on my mine but not close yet. You humbled me when I saw your tree from cutting of mine was 4 x size of the mother. Healthy tree just doesn't grow. and mine seems to be stubborn on making an airlayer as well. Love to hear it rated it so high.

Hey Mike, can you post some leaf patterns of your tree? I had one and lost it. I got a fig from a guy last year and the fruit looks similar. But the leaves on my tree look like Black Madeira leaves. My tree is over 7' tall though so it can't be BM. I'm curious if my tree is Col Littman's or not. thanks!

thanks Phil! I don't think my Brogiotto Biano NOT! is Col Littman's Cross. Here are a few pictures of my unknown tree. The leave favor Black Maderia but the tree is 7' tall now. I wish it was! At least I would know what it is!

The leaves and fruit look a little more similar to Black Ischia, maybe?

Those are pretty interesting leaves, though. The spot where the stalk meets the leaves is very deep.

That looks fantastic. What kind of hardiness would you expect for this fig? Could it survive zone 6b/7a? If so, might have to add this to my wish list.

Mike, I'm glad you posted pictures of this fig. I was starting to wonder about mine. Question for you. Is this fig your second crop? I just found my tree and I'm starting to baby it based on your post. Great job and thanks!

Hello Dennis, it's hard to say when the "normal" ripening time would be . It was stressed for a period of time in July and I moved it to a protected area with about 4-5 hours of sun. It responded well and started perking up. My guess would be that if in ground it would ripen in early to mid August in my area.
