  • The (almost) Best Non-Fig Day Ever!!!

So my niece sent me some pics of my nieces and great nieces (my family's generation gap is more of a generational hodgepodge) picking figs in my Texas orchard. And all I got were these pictures.

I think my grandfather would be proud!

It's going to be really interesting to see which varieties that they like the best. I would think the list would be short to the varieties they don't like.. Lol

James you got a nice variety in the bowl. Your next challenge is to name them from a few states away.

Sorry you not are not getting to enjoy them yourself, but at least someone is. Personally I get as much satisfaction with others enjoying my figs as I do consuming them

So I typed out a response to naming the figs... but I put it aside for now pending a question to the forum.

How many varieties are on the plate?

Make me want to hit the market to see if they have any.

I thought there were 6-7, but my niece says there are only 4. My guess is as follows:
                    • MBVS - The smallest dark figs
                    • Aldo - Mid-sized purple
                    • Armenian - Large yellow/green
                    • Verdal Longue? Smith? Who Knows?
Truth be known, I have no way of knowing. My niece said they were going picking on Friday. I'll send a map of the orchard. I'm hoping I can get specific pictures of several trees/leaves/figs.

                      James,

Looks like you should be living it up in TX right now.
