  • Stella

I'm pretty sure that this a Stella but with so many recent ??? on other figs, who knows! It's a good tasting fig.

    Hi Frank.
The leaves look like my Stella, but your figs ripen a darker color, my figs ripen a light green with red inside.

I agree with Vito. Leaves look right, but the figs should be large greenish/yellow with red interior.

This is the weirdest thing ever...last year this same tree produced elongated green figs with a red interior. I am not going crazy, I am not going crazy.

It may be a Stella that ripened under adverse conditions. A lot of figs that ripen yellow can turn very dark around the base as they get more ripe and it's either very hot or rainy/humid or all of the above. I see it all the time here. Pulp color changes from year to year and probably with ripening conditions. Last year all my VBTs ripened to clear yellow, this year they have some red in the center. Last year was excessively cool, this year was excessively hot. Last year we barely got into the 80s and were almost always with highs in the 70s. No days over 90. This year we've hardly ever dropped below 92 for a high. The figs look different, taste different and have had a lot more fruit problems, but also 5x the fruit as last year.

Although to be honest, the fruit isn't really the right shape for Stella. And characteristic fruit shape has not changed for me. Stellas are usually more elongated than what you show. Has all the fruit been like that? Maybe it's a Nero 600 yellow?
