  • Caprification of common figs speeds up ripening?

I read online that carprified common figs ripen 8-10 days earlier. Has anyone confirmed this? It makes sense to me that figs hold at a certain stage of development waiting to be pollinated so they can form seeds, so this wouldn't be surprising. If true then is there any way for those of us with short seasons and no wasps to trick our figs into thinking they were pollinated? A hormone or something that could be sprayed? I feel like I'm stretching on this one

I think the timing is more affected by the heat and water with fertilizer more than a caprification for me, but I might be wrong. Last year the figs ripened later than this one, and it has been quite hot and dry in CA
