  • Genovese Nero Not #2

I received cuttings in a swap from a member of a different forum
two years ago that claimed this was Genovese Nero. After
growing this out and eating the first fig today, I believe this not to
be GN but more than likely Hardy Chicago. The leaves look like HC,
the fruit looks like HC and the fruit taste like HC. If anyone would
like too know the source of this tree you can PM me.

Hope it wasn't a trade for something valuable. Think it was a mistake or swindle?

Ed, I really don't know. Don't know anything about the person so it's hard to say.

Were they a gift or did you buy them?

This person could have been trading this assuming it is the real thing
and may never know it. Then again? I am not saying there was
anything wrong done intentional. Just sayin

This is on one snakes shoulders that started this mess. Chose greed and betrayal over friendship.
Now there are fakes floating everywhere. Damn shame.

I hope I didn't buy anything from this seller. Is this someone that isn't any longer on f4f?

Brian, I really don't know and can't remember his handle. His name is Daniel Erdy. I am not saying he did anything wrong on purpose. If you got this variety from him just be aware.

Daniel Erdy goes by ediblelandscapingsc on F4F. He got his cuttings originally from Robert and sold them last year on eBay as RGNN without explaining it in the auctions though he had commented on F4F with that RGNN designation: http://www.figs4funforum.websitetool...&postcount=177

When did you acquire it from him in your trade? I don't think it was until summer of 2014 that we realized that this was different than what most others had as Genovese Nero.
