Distilling scares me but I was planning on making fig wine someday if I can get enough figs. Might be a few years, hehe.

Yes I have drank souma from figs and my uncle used to make souma on the island of Chios in the village of Saint George Sikousis.

Sikousis means figs.

How was it taste? Good fig flavor or more or less strong alcohol flavor?

When souma is made they use for shure a little anise and some other aromatics so it tastes pretty good,strong, its not like tsipouro which has no flavor but it strong alcohol flavor, by the way tsipouro is made from grapes.
