  • Cutting season= Ebay scammers.....its that time of year again....

Hey guys....for the new people buying cuttings on Ebay....if the pictures look really grainy, use stolen pictures, and the variety is really rare or hot...please check to see who the seller really is....odds are if they aren't on the forum or known by somebody on the forum....they probably aren't legit! i already see a bunch of really questionable listings on there.

There are also sellers who are members here that are not on the list.

If anyone has a question about a seller, just post here and folks will respond if they've had good interactions with that seller.

What???? You don't want to pay $200 for 1 Brown Turkey cutting Q*..... come on!!!!

I would also add, if you see something you want and are unsure about eBay, post a thread and ask if anybody has some to spare. Odds are you can avoid eBay all together.

Tell me if this looks like a good listing for cuttings. Portuguese variety....some damn good figs come from Portugal (black madeira etc...) but look at the listing....picture #1 is of a pile of logs! Picture #2 is of rooted plumeria cuttings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's funny Q, I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Maybe it is a Plumeria!! I'd be ok with that.

There are many obvious scammers active on e bay again. Go look at Harvey's thread on fff and re read it. Same people as last year along with a few new ones. So far they are selling the really rare stuff . Do not fall for it there are only a handful of honest sellers on e bay right now.

I would much rather buy from members here on the forum than eBay any day.

I have a couple mysterious ebay figs, just this past season I rooted what was supposed to be pan e vino dark and they turned out to be light colored.

It also seems a bit early to be selling cuttings if you are not rooting them now. Most of these cuttings seem a bit green to me and not properly dormant.
Has anyone had good luck refrigerating green cuttings and then rooting them in the spring?

I was wondering the same thing about storing my green cuttings... I just put 75 of them in my fridge the other day. I'm not sure how things will turn out, but I guess we'll see. I have a pretty good feeling that things will probably go South.
