  • Study in contrast: Stella and Valle Calda(?)

A few of my last figs trickling in: Stella and Valle Calda (which came to be labeled as Valle Negra, but seems more consistent with Calda). Stella looks enormous compared to most of my other varieties, especially next to this small Valle Calda. The Stella was deliciously berry sweet. The Valle Calda was a moderately sweet berry flavor, but still tasty. It gets a pass for continued evaluation since it's showing promise as a first year tree.

My Stella is a first year tree that did not bear fruit this season. I'm really hoping to see some fruit next year! Thanks for the post!

Joann, in your zone, I'm sure you'll see fruit next season. You should be enjoying quite the harvest next year!
