    Mike,

At some point would you mind doing a write-up of what you know of this fig and the towns and culture of the area of its origin? Doesn't have to be of the same magnitude of what you did for Bi39, but there is still a connection there that I'd like to preserve in my gardening journal. I think I'd like to do this for all the heirloom varieties that I collect.

        DB,
Of course I can tell you how tis Fig is in my family... As you say is not as touch as papa Bi39 but

when i are go home in Taverna we come to the mountain side where we have cliff to sit on and bring lunch to overlook the valley I think in original papa story I make photo of us on cliff "if no tell me I show you". My family has areas of land which include 3 full mountains and most farmland and 500/1000 person minus capacity have been destroyed by landslides.
But the sun sleeps on other side of mountain so we grown some plantation in one side that require more light and the rest in the side when require only some light. Papa bi39 was always on side with less light... And Chi-talia In much sun...
Papa bi39 was in stone and chi-talia was in good soil... We will walk on other side when no more papa Fig is ripe and Chi-T was just start to ripe... But I will say when Chi-T is ripe is very very good! We always must wonder how or where either come from but for us is long time pleasure to eat and now to bring back to USA to cheapen the flight for Fig ahahahah! Other wise I no can tell you anything more than Chi-T was there long before us and long after.... We can go now to enjoy her fruits there but to have it here just to see the tree warm me to remind me of where I can go to feel at peace with no regrets.

My Zio Otavio bring for me few year ago and he tell me my relaxation may start here now too...
My apologies if I no make sense but is hard to define when you never have sat on cliff or walked the mountains....

While I've not walked that mountain or sat on that cliff, I have walked the hills of Alabama and sat in the tops of cypress trees overlooking my grandparent's place. I get it, respect it, and honor it.

          Thank you, sir, for sharing.

I am bring this up again because my tree is coming out of my home flower bed and over to the farm. It has been in ground for 5 seasons and FINALLY started to fruit! I am still waiting to pick a ripe one before the cold comes here and I’ll post photos. Last year I cut it to the ground(about same size as in attached photo ) and I send the cuttings off to WillsC to make me some root stock because it’s the fastest growing tree I’ve ever seen! I left the cut to the ground tree with only mulch over the top for winter protection and the photo shows how much came back. I will be offering these cuttings on eBay also to forum members discounted for us when is dormant. I’m not sure I am allowed to set a price because that’s what the trade/sell postings is about so I’m just giving a heads up.

Ps there is a grape vine trellis behind the tree. I put the trellis over the tree not thinking the tree would engulf the trellis. But tree stands about 6 ft tall.
