  • Last One for the 2015 Season

After the first hard frost on Saturday morning I picked my last fig of
the season. It is the first and only edible one from my Col de Dame Blanc
tree. Some how the cold and wet weather did not cause it to split open.
The SWD also left it alone. After all that, it looked good but the taste
was only fair. It had a berry flavor but was not as sweet as in the past
when it was still in a large pot. I gave it about a 5 on a 1-10.

    Wait till next year.

I was quite disappointed by how late-ripening these turned out to be Mike, I am thinking next year I may pinch early to prevent and further branch growth after initial fruit set so the plant can concentrate on ripening fruit, even in a container many just refused to ripen, about 1/3 of the total crop, and that was with a head start in the greenhouse!

That is disappointing, hopefully next year is better.

Waiting all season, down to the wire. It looks good. Even though disappointing, at least you got to taste it. Hope it adjusts to the area. Is this one in the ground?

Sorry that time already started a while back

Sad, isn't it. My first CdD Blanc ripened in October and had very little flavor. Hopefully next year.
