  • Today is cutting day.

Today I start to trim the figs and fill the pre-orders.

What I want is opinions on if I were to offer cuttings for sale on the board. Yes I know other members sell here and that is 100% ok, it is your site. If after the sales they want to give a small kickback to offset the forum hosting costs it is welcome and most do but it is in no way required. Have in the works an off site sales website, the domain is purchased and the storefront and hosting purchased. If and when I get it set up that is how I will do it. As I have mentioned in the past I am a bit sensitive to selling here as I do not want members to think this site, this community is for my own enrichment as that is not how I feel about this group. Last year I offered them on f4f and it went over well. So thinking of doing that here as well before Ebay......just wanted to get some feedback on it. It would be a set price thing just for members.

I think it's a great thing, Wills, to offer them to members of this site. I have no problem with it, at all.

YES!!! Please do make your cuttings available to us here on OURfigs site 😁! I do not see a conflict in any way Wills. Like you said, many already do this here and honestly by doing this you are helping everyone to grow their collections while KNOWING we are purchasing from an honest to goodness fellow fig fan/finatic who goes to great lengths to ensure the health, quality & authenticity of the varieties you sell.. In other words, that's a BIG thumbs up from this girl!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Besides.. I really stink at winning auctions on Ebay😉! lol!! So please.. Go for it!!

I'm all for it. I'd rather order directly from a member than go through ebay. Greenfin had a nice website and it was easy to order from. Put what you want in your cart, then check out. Super simple. I'm looking forward to checking out what you will have for sale.

I am new here and my opinion likely doesnt matter but I cant imagine any reason why members should be able to sell and admins should not. Especially where you have put out the money for domain, scripts, hosting, and all the time banging your head against the desk doing admin duties Cant wait to see what you have up for sale.

I think it is a really bad idea, enabling us fig addicts. I am already rooting too many this year and it is 4 months before I can even start the fig shuffle and get them out in real sunshine...

Seriously, Wills, sell them here, no real good reason not to.

Umm......well....... I am the worlds worst at procrastinating about the pictures. This past winter I made a "to do" list. The #1 item on it was to catalog the 300 ish varieties I have in ground with fruit, leaf and tree pictures. Almost embarrassed to admit I think I did 3??? And they were not good at all. I blame Harvey and Karla's as well as the rest of you that take such good pictures. Wanted my pictures to be good but lack the skill...well ok mostly I lack the time. But I'm not going anywhere and I assure you what I sell as XX will be XX or I will make it right.

Ok my concerns are alleviated......it will be varieties I have enough of I hope so disappointment will be kept to a bare minimum. On varieties I do not have many of they will go to Ebay I guess or maybe I will have my site up by then (don't hold your breath) because to offer to the forum and say I only have 3 sets......would make a lot of people ticked at me but will do what I can. Will know more later today, if the rain holds off. The new site will be ourfigsforsale.com but don't go there as it is just an empty hole.

Hopefully there will be plants (my preference) for sale on your site as well as cuttings. Based on my success with rooting cuttings plants are cheaper in the long.

Hello, well I have yet to post here, so hello everybody! I'm new to figs, and you know it's hard to find certain cultivars without paying an arm and a leg, which limits me to 4 figs!

I have met some of you on GW, I grow blueberries too. Anyway selling figs at a reasonable price sounds great to me. As stated it's hard to get started. Plus lot's of new growers as the hobby is just exploding. on f4f 12 packets of one type of fig were gone in 3 hours. Wow! So yes, please offer figs.
Hope all is well with everybody! I wondered what happened to you WillsC? I see you're alive and well, thanks for the site!

I also I promise you I won't make you pay $20 so you have the first shot to buy them Then the next year say ok now that I have your $20 you have no first shot i'm putting them all on Ebay. The newer folks may not get what I mean and I am NOT explaining it.

What a horrible idea, posting fig plants/cuttings for sale to a place like this where no one cares about figs. What made you think to do that? And why do I have visions of sharks and alligators at the zoo at feeding time? Nobody's gonna get *my* dorsal fin for soup, that's for sure. Now I have to go get a drool cover for my keyboard. Growing figs has all these unexpected costs, y'all!
