  • OT Thanks boss

What kind of company lets you go three days before christmas. I have been doing the same route for 5 years, but have been trying to get a smaller one for the past two. But instead of giving me a smaller route, they trained new people, and replaced a couple of us slower (older) drivers. O well, more time for the figs and cactus.
Hi my name is Art. I buy fig cuttings-so I can grow more figs-so I can sell more figs-so I can buy more fig cuttings-so I can grow more figs....

Hopefully it turns out to be positive.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find the good in it. More time for plants is nice, but maybe there is something else better for you.

We have money in the bank, and a good family, it's just bad timing. It is nice to know that someone else has to do my 1500 customers a day, and its rainingg again. Now we just have to hope for snow.

I'm also sorry to hear that, Art. Maybe you can make a case for ageism and negotiate for a better departure package! That was a pretty lousy thing to do; there are definitely better companies (and better management!) out there.

Hope you and your family have a very happy holiday regardless.

Sorry to hear Art, i hate when companys pull that crap. Looks good on financials but don't realize that it impacts families. My job did it 2 years with 1/3 of workforce (~100 employees termed), companies don't care.

Hopefully it is a blessing in disguise as mentioned above.
May the Figs be with you!

Sounds like "Age Discrimination". It's against the Federal Law.

The routes are on a prevailing wage so we all get paid the same. They are also very carefull how they word things. CYA

Sorry for what happened to you. Thankfully you have family to help you through. I know mine helped me during a similar time in my life. I hope you still have a good Christmas and like others said, maybe it will be a blessing in disguise. Take care.

That is awful. A similar thing happened to me except they hired someone older and more senile who would let things slide.

I hate to hear it, same thing happened to me six years ago. I just got back to where I was (financially) this year. I hope karma comes around to visit them soon. If I knew who the company was I would make a conscious effort not to do business with them. Best wishes, I hope things work out for you and yours.

I also got " right sized" aka laid off right before thanksgiving. I worked for a CAT dealership and a few of the ones they keep was past retirement age. So they went to them first and ask them if they was ready to retire and they all said no. So they laid off by seniority. Sad thing is I loved working their. So now I'm looking for a job..
