There's a difference between wood that's brown or gray and lignified and wood that's still green. Green wood will die if exposed to temps in the 20s and it can take a large chunk of the remaining branch with it. If you have a lot of green would I would bring them inside. Brown or gray lignified wood should handle 25 degrees just fine. You will lose your leaves and it may harm any breba crop. If you can't bring them in I'd put them against the house, string Christmas lights close to the outer edge of the group of plants but far enough in so they won't touch the sheets or blanket you put over the plants and then a plastic tarp over the sheets. Good luck.

I don't think 27F would kill them but would probably burn the leaves and send them into dormancy even if covered. They probably wouldn't even go dormant if covered for the 32F nights.

If it were me, I would move them up against the house and cover them with a sheet or something at night. Actually, that's not true...I'd take the stuff out of the garage and move them in there for the 27F night.

    Good luck.

My concern would be if the temps stayed below freezing for an extended time that the roots would freeze.

If they are not in dormancy they will be if you
reach the 20's. Additionally, if they are subjected
to cold stiff winds for extended periods that can
do as much damage or more than if the winds
were calm. The drying effect can be substantial.

You don't have to worry about wind chill. Actually temps are what's important.

That should be fine. 25 is usually thrown around as a point of potential damage. If you're concerned move them under the eaves of your house if possible.

I live in zone 8b. I have many fig trees in one gallon pots. My garage is full my house is full and my children and grand children are arriving to spend the week with us.
My question is what low temp an a potted fig tree survive? None of these plants have gone dormant yet,.
Please help me I do not want to waste a whole summers work. Temps are expected to go don to high 20's. Do I need to pay attention to the wind chill temps ?
