  • bought some figs yesterday ,were ok, but not like fresh off tree.

    kalamata fig from greece ,dried but still chewy not bad. $4.99 for 14 0z. giant eagle grocery store here in pa.has alot of seeds should i grow some ? would they get figs or need the wasp ??

    From what I understand, the seeds may or may not produce a fruiting tree. And if it does, I don't think the quality would match the true variety. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

      It's fun to grow the seeds out, but you wouldn't get the exact same cultivar, it'd be a mix with both parents' input thrown in. You'd also get a mix of caprifigs, Smyrnas, common, San Pedro... Some might be great but you'd have a lot of culling to do and would take time and resources to grow a bunch out. It's something to play with when you want to experiment, not if you're hoping to get the same cultivar as the mother fig.
