Sorry all......I had wanted to post this thread BEFORE anyone noticed but have been a bit distracted and busy

In an effort to control bandwidth and to streamline the forum as well as make SEO better threads that are OT are going to be deleted after 30 days. We had deleted some sooner than that but after this it will be 30 days. It will just be posts like introductions, sales that have ended, just general off topic items. Normal posts will not be deleted. Had an email from the host that we went over our bandwidth for the current period and that means that once again we will soon have to move up to the next payment tier. Not a bad thing as it just means we are growing

Wills glad you mentioned this. I need to make my monthly contribution. I'll get right on it.

Edit: I am not seeing the Donate button so I will just go straight to PayPal and do the send friend money thing.

      Jerry,

Thank you It was not intended as a beg for money post lol. I had two PM's this morning asking where XXXX went. I should have posted the explanation before we started doing it but Admin IT is more efficient than I am

Couldn't certain posts, like introductions especially, go in an 'archived' or 'introductions' folder lower down in the hierarchy and closed? That way they'd be readable and searchable but not affect your SEO. I'd like to see all threads like that closed and still accessible, even the sales threads if possible. Thanks.

I agree with Bob, you never know what useful nugget of info is buried in a random thread.

But I say that as someone not footing the bill.

Hey, is the 30-day to delete from the date the thread is started, or date from the last reply?

I totally see what you're saying, but... but.... as Kelby says there are some true gems of info in some of the off-topic threads. Even the intro threads are fun because you can see what people started off with and where they're looking for. Also in one off-topic thread, there are pictures of everyone's awesome pets.... Might be off-topic but I think figs get mentioned in it at least once. If it's not, I can remedy that now! *toddles off*

Anyway, I also say that as someone not footing the bill. Do what needs to be done. But would be glad to contribute more with auctions, the donate button, etc.

Ok if the topic gets deleted 30 days from the last post. Someone needs to post another picture of a pet every 29th day. But I already posted pictures of all my pets. So I guess every 29 days I will have to adopt a new pet, so i can post a picture.

It could be different photos of the same pets as they evolve throughout their lives.

But, it's okay. I've added a few photos of 2015 figs in the last post (also one of the cat in her sprawled out "I'm dead" post). It is now not 100% off topic. Phew!

Wills are you hosting w/ VBulletin themselves? I have a hunting forum and am thinking about switching over to the VBulletin cloud for the forum and am wondering if you are using their service how you like it so far....

                James,

Yes and cloud yes. It is ok, a lot of features and depth to it. A bit annoying on the bugs that they don't seem to get around to fixing. I have paid a programmer out of my pocket who use to work for VB to cure a few bugs and add a couple features..like extending the forum side to side, making certain buttons larger, curing the quote bug in a comment and putting the locations under our avatars. It does bug me that I have to pay for the forum every month AND pay a programmer also to fix issues they won't. On the plus side if you have an issue support answers fast, just a couple hours as a rule.
