    Oniomania coupled with Alzheimer's dementia.

In other words, I'm compelled to buy more figs then I can't remember I bought them so I'm compelled to buy more!

For me, I'm trying to narrow down to maybe 15-20 of the best varieties for me to grow here. Best flavors, productivity, etc with some variety. I won't be able to grow them all indefinitely as I don't have the room so I'll eventually have to downsize to the best ones and hopefully grow those well enough to get all of the figs that I want.

I want to create new things, and when in experimental phases, I kill many of them , that is the reason why I keep buying , and buying the very best at all cost for my purpose . My product will be unique , second to none . That is my dream . But to be successful or not, that is another story . .

If I am successful (my dream comes true) then you will see a brand new variety ---> fruit is big, extremely delicious that we just need to grow only one fig tree . Eat 2 figs a day is plenty . Why grow 1000 varieties ? You cannot eat all their figs anyway .

Have you been reading my journal? That's exactly what my goal is, creating a new fig with larger fruits and more flavor than current varieties. What is your plan to achieve your goal? Or is it a secret like mine.

If you are successful, and I hope you are!, your product and experience will be relevant in your grow zone. AND COMPLETELY RELEVANT TO YOU.

If that is what you are truly looking for. Or, are you going to perform those same experiments in other grow zones to make your product relevant there. Couldn't the results point to a totally different variety for each grow zone?

Just my thoughts. Your product will be unique, and second to none. It will only require one tree and produce enough figs for you!

But then you have taken much of the fun out of growing several varieties of figs?

The fun in mountain climbing is climbing. When you arrive at pinnacle of your effort, you can be there and enjoy the minute, until you climb down.

Climbing was the enjoyment--Zen, The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (1974).

"We're in such a hurry most of the time we never get much chance to talk. The result is a kind of endless day-to-day shallowness, a monotony that leaves a person wondering years later where all the time went and sorry that it's all gone."

      Best of Luck!

Ostensibly, I'm trialing different varieties to cover my growing season with different flavor profiles. The reality is that I'm probably a fig addict. I'm not sure I would make it through the winter with my sanity intact if I hadn't started some cuttings.

That and there's something deeply satisfying about growing a cutting to a fruiting tree and getting tasty fruit for yourself, friends, and family.
