The only thing I know about them is that if it is more than a toy, it has to be registered with the FAA. Stupid regulations that is killing the RC flying hobby.

Honestly...I'm tempted to get one just so I can NOT register it as an act of civil disobedience.

Sorry....will get off my soapbox now.....

I had one I loved. I win it in raffle.. In store cost almost $900.00... Tis before they become very popular I was fly one day and the remote control shorted and sent it so far up and away I never find again. Talk about feel bad when you have a cutting die.... Imagine watching $900 literal fly away and there nothing you can do about it. Tis why I want custom build one because they can put RTR (return to Remote control) button that if battery is low or is out of eyesight you push button and auto come back to you and land safe.
I also want custom build one because any better one I can buy at store are automatically registered now.

some are very easy to fly, I have a Syma x5 and anyone could fly it. It is a good quad to learn on. It doesn't cost much and you can fly it in smaller areas. I also have a tarantula x6 that is fast and big, I have to fly it in a big field

I like the way you think DB. As most of you probably know I have a nursery license and with that comes a yearly inspection. The inspector who is a very nice guy and quite helpful showed up on Wednesday while I was on the phone with "hair dryer in pants guy". The state inspections are always unannounced. So we chat and he does his thing and all is fine and as he heads back to his truck he spots the bee hive....."do you have a license for that" is his question. I say "you need a license for a bee hive"? (rolls eyes) I asked "what about the wild hives, how do they pay the government, the checks must be tiny". His blank stare tells me he may not quite get my admitted "smartazz" sense of humor. SOOOO now I have to get a license.....for a bee hive......

Even if is for personal enjoyment and no for commercial sales of honey? Or just because is on a "licensed business" property ?

Every hive in the state has to have a license and a yearly inspection, does not matter if it is commercial or not.

Mike, my commercial blueberry farmer friend who is a member of the board bought a drone last year as a way to scare birds away from the fruit. He has tried propane cannons, these boxes in the fields that make hawk sounds and now the drones. They use to drive the rows with 4 wheelers and shotguns. They can't shoot the birds but just shoot and drive around to scare them. He said the drone worked great, you were a virtual reality glasses and you fly it and looks like you are in it. He said the only problem is you think things are further away than they are, found that out when he saw the treeline and thought I will clear that......nope

I wish to have one like his one day. To have googles would be amaze! I use my cheap one to scare off geese by my ponds infront my home. There always 100+ out there and I don't mind them in water but when they on ground they poo all over my yard and drive. Is great device to scare bird. Although I no sure what's worst... Crashing it.... Watching it disappear into space and losing it.... Or now just see on tv they train Hawks and eagle to grab them mid air and return them to their trainer because they in no fly zone. And our here many no fly zones....
