    What do you think?

    Anyone know this seller?

Looks scary to me how the labels are simply sitting on top of the cuttings. Cat comes or an accidental swipe and there goes a mix-up. I've learned the hard way and take very serious precaution when it comes to labeling now.

The cuttings look great! Hope they're legit.

It's interesting he say he not a grower or plan to grow them. He's not in any forum. But knows some very respectful people names and varieties.

Maybe Mr. Pons might known tis person since he is mentioned in the listing? From what I think?
Also to start a cutting at that high of price also make me wonder... I never see any cutting start off at that high.
    Just my think

I don't know one way or another but it smells like a scam to me.

Wonder if Bass knows who he is as well since Bass is referenced in the listing. Maybe it's his relative again. Hah.

I would steer clear personally, Unless Bass or Mr. Pons states and guarantees the authenticity right here in this thread! Then I also find the price ridiculous, yet I'm sure someone will gladly pay it for their new BT.

This is the best one yet. He's not a fig collector but just happened to stick them in his luggage and forgot about them until he cleared customs. He knows nothing about figs but yet knows there is in reality no such fig named Black Madeira and that I-258 was an unknown fig. Hey but don't worry...he'll give you a no questions asked "money back guarantee" if three years from now his magic sticks ain't what he says they are. If anyone is considering buying what he is selling, please contact me as I just happen to need to sell the Queen Isabella Bridge that I've owned for years. Nice pitch but no sale.

Tis worries me because now that scams see how much some fig tree/cutting sell for... They can openly join any fig forum under different name and email get A little known with a few post and then now state their memberships of different forums they belong to in the Ebay listing. No? He did mention f4f without even being member......

Scamers have been doing this for a very long time Mike. There is many posts and complaints about it.

So never buy anything from anyone without taking the time to VET them first.

If the seller is not on the known seller list, do like Jerry did and ask.

As a general rule, on ebay. .... trust no one until proven and even then keep an eye on them anyway.

Yes, and all we can do is hang on for the ride. It makes one wonder how many Black Mission fig trees have assumed exotic Black Fig Names.

In a phone conversation I had last spring with James Robin about all the many different fig varieties out there he commented that a certain variety we were discussing was just another fig, as in a fig is a fig is a fig.

The dead give away is how nice those cuttings are. Mr. Pons cuttings have very close node spacing and typically stained and dirty. You can try to clean them all you want they still look ugly. Without a doubt a scam

Pons should Be Informed about tis if he no known already. He is member here but I no think he ever post or converse.

I also think any of us member come across a belle find as Frank did that we can give story and even photo but no reveal is exact location just for tis reasons.

I will no be either if I was him. He should no have to verify every Ebay sellers fico that claim come from him. But when someone use he "initials" like seller think Stunadè we don't known... I think anything big money seller that come from reputable fico collector even some of us with big collections. WillsC,harvey, bass pons Paola whoever should also include some type of confirmation along with cutting. A label or something can no be reproduced to confirm is real... Unless all collectors want open their email for public to message is only other way.... Is safe at least for us but again tis public site easily joined so tis why I say something to PROVE in future that is from the stated source? Maybe I no make sense?

I'm surprised that someone would openly admit on a public platform like eBay to illegally smuggling fig cuttings into the US. Not only admit to it, but turn around and charge high prices for the contraband. Very strange.

Anyone that writes so much rambling fluff is over compensating for their cause. Take a look at the simple, articulate, multi sentence descriptions that come from known reliable vendors and compare that to this garbage.

My 2 boys are 9 and 11 and when they tell the truth its with emphatic commitment. When their stories or explanations start to include long winded detail its obvious they are covering up.
