  • Canned Whole Figs

This is my favorite way to preserve figs. These whole figs get me thru until fresh ones start coming in. What is yall's favorite way to preserve figs?

We made preserves year before last, but we cut them up and cooked them down first. I like whole fig preserves, just didn't have enough. Maybe this year there will be enough to put some up whole.

The way I was taught to put up whole figs was to make a syrup, light, medium or heavy, cook the figs in the syrup until figs start to show clear, spoon figs into hot sterilized jars and fill jar with syrup. Last add a slice of lemon then seal and process for 10 -15 minute

Thats the way I do mine... In a light syrup and I add lemon juice instead of lemon slices.

First they have to make it out of the garden without being eaten! !!

      HA.... not likely to happen.
