  • Air layering Panic

I did air layering mid Sept last year according to Tom who posted his video on youtube before, unfortunately I did not see any roots at all. I was told air layering in Fall is supposed to be more difficult or less chance to be success. Is there any special attention to be aware if I want to proceed again this Spring ?

There shouldn't be anything different in Spring versus a Fall technique. I've done a lot in Fall without a problem. I don't know what would make it more difficult. Unless you're starting them 2 weeks before a killing frost then that would be a problem. I prefer to do them starting at the end of August to the beginning of September. In four to five weeks the are ready to be removed and potted up. They still have time to get settled in before dormancy.

They airlayer great if the plant is growing well......that is why the fall layering does not work so well.
