  • Excited Newb😃

I received my trees from Joe at figtrees.net on Saturday (let the madness begin.) They look great just need to recover from shipping. I think I have the fig fever already and the got to have them all mind set😂 but I will try and not go crazy. I have a fig flavor group plan that I wanna try and stick with but not sure how that will go. Thanks Jamie and everyone else for all you help. This is a great forum very happy I joined it. I look forward to seeing my trees grow and sharing with everyone my up and downs in this new adventure. The trees I got are Black Triana and Paradiso (Genova).

Congrats!!! They ARE addictive!!! The little ones I got are the same size... I'm sooo impatient for them to grow, I think I run out and check them every 10 minutes to see if anything happened. LOL
Want: Marseilles Black, Col de Dame (any), figs that do great in zone 9b (new to figs, so no fig trades, but have other plant types)

welcome. Please set up video cameras where your figs are staying. I am positive that they get "friendly with benefits" in the dark when you are not looking. How else can you explain the phenom of more trees the next day. and more more like rabbits those figs are.

Good luck Zuny, I grew the Morle Paradiso for two years, it is a prolific producer and needs no TLC like many other figs do. They are a honey fig in my estimation. Tasty, but they have a huge ostiole, ants and yellowjackets will get inside it. They also sour quickly so pay attention to pick when ripe.

                            The figster,

As far as space my backyard is pretty big so that will come in handy when I get to the point of having to many fig trees. I plan on putting them in my unheated garage for the winter. I also have a plum, peach and a cherry tree.

I plan on making a green house next year so that I can try cultivars that need longer seasons for the fruit to ripen.

I also have a small garden in my backyard that i started last year. If it was upto me the entire backyard would only consist of fruit trees. I secretly wish I was a farmer of tropical fruits.

What I really need is to move to a warmer state.

You have it bad. Your answers indicate interest and enthusiasm and a preponderance on what could be. So can I persuade you to list the Fig trees you currently have ? Its a kind of social experiment

Welcome, Zuny. I have a couple trees from figtrees.net, the Paradiso(Genova) and Italian Honey. They have both proved good figs for me so far.

I plan on picking up a White and Black Triana from figtrees.net in the near future.

Another fig I would recommend for you is Ronde de Bordeaux (it's a prolific early ripener).

When you build your greenhouse, build it as large as you can. When I built mine I was going to go for a 6x8 but went with a 12x8 and I'm glad I did. I'm actually thinking of putting another one in ... Good Luck in curbing the fig-diction
