  • Bourjassote Grise

I picked this breba today. It surely could have used a few more days, but I accidentally knocked it off when I was trying to get an organza bag around this big boy. I was surprised to see how think the rind was. When I cut it open, it did not look like it was going to be very tasty. This fig tasted a whole lot better than it looks, it was delicious. Looking forward to more of these, especially when they are fully ripe.

Very encouraging! Can't always judge a book by its cover right? It's not that it doesn't look pretty good thought , but it sounds like it tasted a whole lot better which is what really counts in my book at least 😉 I rooted one of these this past spring and I'm really looking forward to it growing up and supplying me with lots of yummy figs! How old is your tree Allen?

My tree is very young, it was about 6 inches tall in a 1 gal container (I won it from Rafed's auction this past fall). It seems to be a good grower though, it is now in-ground and about 18 inches tall.

It does look good! I have a small tree of this variety that seems to be having a bit of a tough time getting established down here. I put it in ground and soon after had terrible rains. It dropped it's leaves and grew one or two more since. I'm hoping it doesn't get any more set backs so I get some pretty figs like yours!

I should also mention that we got a few serious downpours a few days prior to this fig ripening, and it still held that nice, tight eye and did not have a watered down taste at all. So that is encouraging.

I think I see about 20 main crop on my young tree, looking forward to this one big time although I did have 1 fruit mature late on last year's first year growth.

Rafael, what kind of pot and light do you have yours in? Mine does not seem too happy this year in a SIP and full sun.
