  • Unk ID Help

First things first, a bit of an introduction My name is Mike and I've posted a few times but I figured I would let you know a bit about my intro to figs. About five years ago I purchased my first fig tree from a garage sale in Michigan(I was visiting family). I brought it to Texas and the following year had my first fresh fig! Woo hoo! I was hooked! (It was id on other forum as kadota) To top it off our dog decided to sample the tree itself and I ended up propagating my first cutting in an attempt to salvage what was lost. I now have 20- 30 trees and about that many varieties,Thanks of course to the fig pushers on this and the other forum (many thanks to all of course).
Now, on to the ID help needed. I came across this tree next to the local sonic last year. I propagated two, one in pot, and the other in ground. I sampled one of the figs from the tree last year. It is a green fig with a deep red interior with no void. Excellent flavor, and the shape of the fig looks to be similar to black Madeira. I didn't snap a pick of the ripe fruit. Anyway, the leaf pics I posted are what seems to be the common shape. What do you think? Thanks for all input and for the hospitality here!
You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 4 photos.

Nice! The shape of black madeira kinda throws me for a loop. The leaves could pass for green ischia maybe but with out a ripe fig and leaf it's next to impossible to ID. There are a lot of folks here that are better at the ID game then I am but it does sound like a winner. Welcome to the forum and if you get some extra cuttings let me know, lol.

To be fair it may not be the figs' normal shape. I rooted it in a breathable mesh pot, and then direct planted in a larger planter. The fig then developed sort of squeezed between the two I will be be on the lookout for ripe figs the mother tree this time around.

Also, I think I can get some cuttings. The owners told me to take what I wanted last year. I will check again and PM you.

Thanks Joyce! I do love this forum. Few places foster the "fig fever" like this

Mike, do you have fruit inside and out pics? I am chasing down an UNK similar to the UNK or BM you posted earlier.
