My pear and apple trees are in their third summer. I planted two southern pears, Golden Boy and Southern Bartlett. The fire blight resistant Golden Boy was devastated by the blight and I may remove it. The Southern Bartlett was mildly affected and is bearing many pears.Not the prettiest tree, but it is producing and the pears are supposed to be creamy and not gritty. I planted five varieties of apple trees that are reported to do well in the south. I have apples on 4 trees.
