    Perhaps espalier?

I would think that with root and top pruning of any mature existing fig trees, you should be fine. After all, if people can hold them to any height in a pot, why not in-ground?

Are the other two sides of the hedge planted, or free?

Funny how that happens! I have 6 planted 12 feet apart and am now thinking of putting figs in between them as well.

I planted some 8-10 feet apart. I was wondering if I could plant a fig between each making a spacing of 4-5 feet.

What sort of spacing were you considering?

I wanted to revive this post, I have used the search feature and taken all the above advice but I want to actually hear from some people who either like or dislike their hedge and would like to know about productivity etc.

    Fig Hedge?

I am looking for pictures and information regarding fig hedges. I know many members have them but I would like to see pictures and get information regarding spacing, yields etc. If you have a fig hedge please post any videos or pictures you have. Please comment regarding overall productivity and spacing.
