    Beautiful!!!

How cool is that! Did you ID it before it emerged from its chrysalis?

I had been seeing some caterpillars eating a parsley plant. I just happened to look and see it on the fig tree with the chrysalis.

They seem to like the curly parsley better than flat leaf. I have seen them on dill, fennel, and rue plants also.

I was watching 5 on my parsley plant and had watched some last year on a dill plant. When they disappeared I thought maybe a bird had eaten them. After reading up on them, I learned that they like to travel a distance once they are ready to go into their chrysalis.

I usually collect monarch caterpillar, but now there's a lot of diveloping near my house and the milkweed is gone.
