Bob, it's in perfect soil made up of composted cow manure, sifted super soil and tilled clay over a period of 22 years. Other trees within a few feet grow and produce excellent abundant fruit.

Sifted super soil sounds sufficient. Certainly compost contributes credibility and clay counts continuously.

My second year old Salce in a five gallon pot has produced no figs this year. I pinched the branches and am getting new growth but no figs. It gets afternoon shade, which is a life saver here with our heat and sun, but perhaps it needs more sunshine.

Definitely not living up to its reputation. What kind of soil is it in?

This tree was placed in ground in April 2014. It receives 8-10 hours of sunlight daily.

This fig to me is a typical honey fig. Not much on flavor but good and sweet. The skin
had no distinctive flavor and there was no seed crunch. I gave it a 7 on 1-10.
