Well you may never taste a better one. It's lifetime tops for me and last year I fruited between 70 and 80. That BM you ate was not even really ripe yet, let it develop the rich syrup. So what do you have to look forward from this point on, nothing much else will compare

Sounds like it is time for some serious security around those fico trees my friend!!! I'm glad you got to try the coveted Black Madeira even if it wasn't all the way ripe.... Just imagine if one half ripe is that good... how good is a fully ripe one? If the squirrels are eating the figs, eat the darn squirrels!!! I bet if you look there is a roasted squirrels with fig sauce recipe somewhere on the net. If not you could make the recipe from experimenting with roasted squirrel in fig sauce and author the recipe!!

ah Mike buy some Just One Bite bars and wire in a berry basket and place about 5 ft away. Rodent like verrrry much and take some home for their nest friends. If they are able to come back for a second helping it will be a miracle. They go nitey nite in their nest and go to the eternal squirrel valhalla. I Never saw a dead one in my yard. I know I know but I also have a Kestrel Hawk in my back yard who loves the taste of rodent with furry tails He and his family have been there for two years. I saw him wallop a squirrel off the trunk of a oak tree in my back yard last week and carry it away I have so few squirrel now that I dont have to Just One Bite I have gone from them knocking over orchid pots and tearing up the lanai screen to maybe one or two. It used to be like an elephant herd running and jumping on the screens they avoid my yard like the plague you can hear him screeching every day. He has grown quite large and patrols my yard and my neighbors on the left. Often when I go out in the yard he will be sitting in a tree and doesn't fly away at all. I am sure that he ranges further than our yards. Also I have many birds in my yard that didn't go for the bars cardinals, finches, hummingbird , goldfinch have never seen dead bird in the past hope this helps.

Well, that's the sad thing , a squirrel eats a bar, climbs a tree where a hawk gets it. At the end, the hawk dies ... Be extra careful if you have small children wondering around too.
