If I remember correctly, the Standard Celeste and all its many variants only get a so-so rating by most California growers. From what I can remember it just doesn't like the climate out there. But it is a must have for many growers in the southern US.

Blue Celeste and Golden Celeste (Encanto Farms) stand out as superior in flavor. I have not tried Black Celeste

Are there quality differences between the Celeste cultivars? Or is it mainly just appearance?

Dtownfigs - Yeah, I was perusing Rigo007 's figdatabase and saw the picture of the figs and I fell in love.....just a beautiful fig. I started immediately pestering all who might have grown it. I'm hoping to have Blue Celeste, Stallion, Sweet Diana, and The One this year....all have been named possible synonyms for Blue Celeste. A portion of the piece you sent rooted, but then failed due to a non-figger taking care of my figs while I was away for Christmas, but I still have hope for the portion I took to graft. We'll see.

So, wait. Is Sweet Diana a confirmed Blue Celeste synonym?
