  • Paradiso DFIC# 307

Donated from: District of Columbia, United States (Comment: Donated to NCGR, Davis. Per Donor: "I received the original cuttings from an elderly gentleman in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. His father had immigrated from Italy. . . [he] received this fig from a fellow Italian immigrant.")
Maintained by the Natl. Germplasm Repository - Davis. NPGS received: 27-Jun-2006.

It bears two crops of green figs with red to pale red pulp of very good quality. It seems to match all written and pictorial descriptions of the 'Paradiso' variety that I have found.

This is the "Paradiso Gene" found by Gene Hosey, late of East Coast Figs.

I wonder what the difference between this specific variety and JM Paradiso is.
