    Brooklyn Dark

    A Trees of Joy introduction!
We collected this variety from Brooklyn, NY after seeing how cold hardy it is. The tree bears two crops of round dark figs with very good flavor, we named it Brooklyn dark.

Zone / Region: Zone 6a, SW PA.

Cultural practice: Grown in a 5g SIP. Fig shuffle started 2nd week April.

Leaf descriptions: Leaves mostly 5 lobes, rare 3 lobes noted. On my plant the leaf edges have a wavy appearance.

Fig descriptions: Fig is a little larger, maybe usually more round than Mt Etna varieties. It is a rich tasting dark purple fig with a red interior. This was one of my best figs in 2015, not quite as good in 2016 when more of them split in rainy weather. In 2015 first fig on 9/15, in 2016 first fig about 9/20.

Growth habits: nothing remarkable, average vigor for me
